Dr. Gilbert Lenssen, ABIS' Founding President: "I am confident that Sauquet will lead the network with great strength and support from its members"

ABIS – The Academy of Business in Society, a global network of over 100 multinational companies and business schools working towards a sustainable future, is delighted to announce that Professor Alfons Sauquet has been elected as its new President and Chair of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Sauquet, who is currently the Global Dean of ESADE Business and Law Schools, was unanimously chosen from a list of elite candidates to take over from Dr. Gilbert Lenssen, ABIS' Founding President. He will serve an initial three year term to guide The Academy through an ambitious new phase of development.

"ABIS needs to change in a radically transformed environment, but it starts this journey from a very good position, and in the very safe hands of Alfons Sauquet. I am confident that he will lead the network with great strength and support from its members." – Gilbert Lenssen, Emeritus President, ABIS.

Under Dr. Sauquet’s stewardship, ESADE has established itself as one of the world’s top business schools, recognised for its academic excellence, international outlook and its strong focus on the development of personal and professional competencies linked to responsible, ethical business. Given ABIS' mission to transform management education in line with global sustainability challenges, The Academy will benefit enormously from his global perspective and standing.

Dr. Sauquet recognises that ABIS stands at an important juncture as it moves into its 14th year of existence. He promises to stay faithful to the spirit of ABIS while ensuring it takes the right risks to continue to grow and build stronger collaborations in the following three years.
"ABIS is now entering a new phase that prompts us to act differently in bridging between the corporate and academic worlds in pursuit of innovation and change.  It will require imagination to provide our partners with ideas and platforms to have a deeper impact both in business and education and research, but I have no doubt that we will achieve our ambitions in this regard." – Alfons Sauquet, President, ABIS.
