Oxford, UK, 3 August 2005
Oxford Immunotec Ltd. said it raised £7M in a Series B funding round to expand marketing of its first product, a new test for tuberculosis. Prelude Ventures led the round with £2.75M, accompanied by Quester, Dow Chemical, and Top Technology. The company is developing what it claims is an especially sensitive new generation of medical tests, which tracks the immune system's key disease-fighting T-cells. Its first product, T Spot TB, can count the number of T-cells produced to fight a tuberculosis infection - allowing doctors to detect latent infections, or measure the progress of the disease over time.
