Intercytex cell therapy draws £12M investment

Intercytex Ltd, a Cambridge, UK-based cell-therapy company, said it raised £12 million in private equity from its existing shareholders to fund more clinical trials. The company is developing new treatments for hair growth and wound repair, based on research on the way human cells regenerate and naturally repair the body. The company, which has raised more than £31 million and has about 50 employees, recently reported successful completion of Phase IIb clinical trials on its ICX-PRO wound healing product. Participants in this latest, fourth private-equity financing round are Avlar BioVentures, Merlin Biosciences, 3i, Cambridge Gateway Partnership, NIF Ventures and Scottish Equity Partners.
