Home fuel-cell development planned by British Gas, Ceres Power

BG Group plc and an Imperial College London spin-out, Ceres Power Ltd, have agreed to work together on the development of a new kind of home boiler that can generate both heat and electricity from gas. A cube of Ceres fuel cells, about the size of a compact-disk case, would be at the heart of the new boilers, generating both heat and electricity as the natural gas already piped into a home passes over the cells. The development agreement provides for the two companies to determine how to package the technology for homes.
