Oxford, UK, 2 August 2005
UK oil company BP plc said it is providing Oxford University with about $14 million over ten years to fund research, a new centre and a faculty chair in resource economics. The aim is to study what economists call the "resource curse" - the mismanagement of national oil wealth. The BP money founds the Oxford Centre for the Analysis of Resource-Rich Economies, headed by a to-be-named BP Professor of Economics.
