About BASTION
BASTION - From basic to translational research in oncology
BASTION is an FP7 funded project aiming to strengthen research potential of the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) in the field of basic and translational oncology. This objective will be achieved through a series activities in several operating areas:
- initiating cooperation with researchgroups from leading European research laboratories and top innovation-driven commercial partners;
- fostering exchange of scientific ideas and know-how by organising workshops and international conference focused on molecular oncology;
- establishing a bioinformatics group focused on personalised medicine and strengthening the project team by recruiting experts from the area;
- strengthening research capacity by acquiring modern research equipment;
- creating a pro-innovative environment supporting practical implementation and dissemination of BASTION research to raise awareness of basic and translational oncology;
- generating economic impact and improving quality of life.
Other research partners in the project include KU Leuven, Karolinska Institutet, Radboud University Nijmegen, University College Dublin, University of Cologne, University of Verona. Science|Business provides support and expertise to the BASTION team in the fields of online communications and organisation of high-level networking events.
